Food Was great. My guide Houston was very good. I had a very good time. Saw plenty of deer just not the one I was after. this hunt was just what I needed for some relaxation away from work.Hope to come back one day.
I hunted with IMB in Iowa. I had a very bad experience. I was deceived & mislead by the owner Darrin Bradley. And before you say " Well he's just mad bc he didn't get a buck" I actually did harvest a buck on the hunt. But it was still an extremely poor quality hunt. I was told that he did not run a large number of hunters each week. That was false, there were 4 Times the number of hunters in camp than he assured me there would be. The Lodging was pitiful. The ground we had access to hunt in southern Iowa was all just cattle farms. I didn't see a corn or bean field the entire time, just cattle under me, in front of me, behind me, & all around me. The ground seemed to me to be the ground other Outfitters had passed up. I never saw a food plot, never saw much timber. I did see farmers in their trucks riding through my hunting spot to feed & count cattle though. We played musical stands all week, they moved us around to spots that had been hunted by others in camp, the ground was clearly pressured to death. The guides had to be one of the worst aspects of IMB. With the exception of one local guy, the only local guy that knew the area we were hunting. The other few guides that made for 1 guide per 5 hunters, were guides for hire. My guide told me he'd never been to Iowa or even the Midwest. He was from Texas & said he traveled around all fall guiding where ever could use him. He said it was his very first time guiding a whitetail deer hunt in the Midwest. He would drop 5 of us off at the county road. Drive to a nearby barn & sleep all day in his truck. He wouldn't answer the phone bc he felt sleep was more important than scouting & exhausting efforts to try & put his hunters in the right spots. IMB was an extremely terrible guided hunting experience, just plain awful. I was deceived when speaking to Darrin Bradley, told false accounts about all aspects of the hunt package. While in camp I witnessed another hunter tell Darrin off, he chewed him out over the same issues I had & many other hunters had that week. On social media if you leave a negative review like I did IMB has it removed & reports you. Hopefully Google will allow Free Speech to prevail & an individual to state his or her own opinion. My opinion as a serious deer hunter who has hunted & successfully harvested mature bucks in 6 states, has had super great hunts where i was not successful in harvesting a buck, who knows that fair chase hunting for big bucks is the most difficult task out there. With all that to my credit I honestly can say to any hunter, look elsewhere, find another Outfitter, the more low profile & simple looking the better in my opinion. Don't spend your money & book a hunt with IMB, you'll most likely have the same experience I had, a really bad one.
